I went on 15 days TDY with 10 other GI's to
Setana, Hokkaldo to help the farmers harvest their soy beans. Also one night after working swing shift my friend and I went to Eniwa and got into a fight.
I had planned to take a 45 day leave and go home for Christmas, as I had
a request in channels to transfer to USASAPAC and reenlist for the COMSEC Team which TDY to places like Korea, Japan and Vietnam, my enlistment
was up in March of 1963.
The transfer was disapproved by USASAPAC, so my leave orders were revoked.
I reported to Kishine Barracks, Yokohama for my return to Oakland,
CA pending a discharge. On 23 Feb. 1963, I Flew to Travis, AFB, CA., with
a Couple of days layover in Hawaii to visit Chuck Bright, a high school friend of
mine. At the USA Transfer Station, Oakland, Calif., on 27 February 1963,
I reenlisted for six more years. I received orders for Sinop, Turkey.
