In December 1954 I seen a recruiter for the Navy, but I was turned down because I had flat feet.
I then went back to school to graduate in June of 1955 from
WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, in
BRAINERD, MN.
In May of 1955 I joined the National Guard so I wouldn’t have to face the draft. Then in March of 1956 I went to basic training at Fort Leonerd Wood, Missouri. I returned home for the summer. I went to summer camp at Camp Riley, Minnesota for two weeks. In August of 1956 I went into the active Army for two years.
